SHEILA WHITTAKER

Sheila is a professional violinist, musician and teacher who originally trained at the Royal College of Music and graduated with a GRSM degree and ARCM diploma. For nearly twenty years she had a thriving career in the mainstream classical music world, freelancing with many orchestras and chamber groups and running a teaching practise alongside her performing work.

Some years ago Sheila’s career took a more alternative musical route; following the call to use her musical abilities in a more holistic way, she studied Sound Healing with Simon Heather, Principal of theCollegeofSound Healing, and gong with Don Conreaux. In recent years she has specialised in using very high quality gongs for her Sound Therapy work.

Sheila is a tutor for theCollegeofSound Healing, teaching the Gong modules, Chant/Mantra, and Harmonium workshops. She authored and teaches the College’s Gong Practitioner Training course.

She has recorded three Gong CDs – “Transcendence”, “Quantum Transformations”, and “Sounds of Stillness”. In 2010 she wrote and published her first book : “Sound Healing with Gongs – a Gong book for Beginners”. She has appeared on the radio, and has gong videos on YouTube. Sheila is a member of the CMA and the UK Sound Healers Association, and runs a private therapy and teaching practice in eastDevon. She is also a traditionally trained Reiki Master/teacher.

“It was about eight years ago that I became aware of the gong as a Sound Healing instrument, again through a series of synchronicities. It became very clear that this was the right path for me to pursue in my work, and I embraced it with passion. The rest is history, as they say!”
